Muxes

“Muxes” follows the lives of different people in the Muxe community, a native community in the Zapotec town of Oaxaca, Mexico, who identify as a third gender. Through their personal stories, we dive into a personal journey through identity, the struggle for acceptance and the rejection of non-binarism in favor of an authentic life.
A report woven together by a team made up of a photographer, a poet, a teacher, a social worker and an activist who, through a realistic perspective, immerse us in this community, its sorrows and joys, its pains and fantasies, and highlight the importance of their struggle against discrimination, which they fight through dance, cooking and different festivities.
