Audience figures have propelled BARRIO ESPERANZA to the top of the rankings, confirming it as the strongest premiere of a weekly TV drama in the past four years. Produced by GLOBOMEDIA in association with RTVE, the series has reached the midpoint of its broadcast with outstanding results, both in linear viewing and cumulative audience figures.
These data highlight viewers’ strong interest in this uplifting social comedy, set in a public school. Overall, the series has reached more than 7 million unique viewers—15.2% of the Spanish population—who have tuned in at some point, either through linear broadcast or time-shifted viewing (*).
The first four episodes of BARRIO ESPERANZA have achieved an average linear audience of 1,272,000 viewers, rising to 1,586,000 when time-shifted viewing is included. The series leads its time slot with a 13.4% share, outperforming its competition by more than 2.7 points, and is the top choice across all audience segments aged 13 to 74.
On its premiere alone, on April 19, the series created by Iván Escobar and Antonio Sánchez Olivas reached a 15.3% share, with 1.6 million viewers, rising to 2 million viewers including time-shifted viewing.
In yesterday’s broadcast of the fourth episode, aired on RTVE’s La 1 following La Revuelta, BARRIO ESPERANZA recorded an average audience of 864,000 viewers, an 11.2% share, and more than 2.1 million unique viewers who tuned in at some point. The episode also posted a significant increase among younger viewers (11.3%, up 59.2%). This performance closely mirrors that of the previous week, Wednesday, April 22, when the third episode premiered also achieved an 11.2% share, with an average audience of over one million viewers and 2.8 million unique viewers.
From a socio-economic standpoint, the series performs strongest among upper-high (AI) and upper-middle (IC) segments, with a 10% increase in the latter, representing 13.2% of the audience, particularly in towns and cities with populations ranging from 10,000 to 500,000 inhabitants. In the most recent broadcast, a notable increase was observed in municipalities with 50,000 to 200,000 inhabitants, where viewing reached a 11.8% share.
BARRIO ESPERANZA features Iván Escobar, Antonio Sánchez Olivas, María José Rodríguez, and Javier Méndez as executive producers; Sandra Gallego and Iñaki Peñafiel as directors; and a writing team that also includes Raquel Haro, Abraham Sastre, Marta Sánchez, Javier Reguilón, Raúl Díaz, and Aurora Parrilla.
Mariona Terés leads the cast as Esperanza, alongside Alejo Sauras, Ana Jara, Mariano Peña, Guillermo Campra, Laura de la Uz, Ángel Héctor, Ruth Núñez, and Juan Vinuesa, among others.
