Romantic comedy produced in Latin America is slated for theatrical release this year and will later be available exclusively on HBO Max in Latin America
Latido Films has acquired worldwide rights to the project, excluding Latin America, and will be introducing the film to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlín this week
Cimarrón (The Mediapro Studio) and Concreto Films present a first look image of NADA ENTRE LOS DOS (NOTHING BETWEEN US), a romantic comedy that will bring a story of awakened desire and unexpected connection to Latin American audiences later this year. Mexican top acting talent Gael García Bernal and renowned Uruguayan actress Natalia Oreiro star in the film, which was directed by Juan Taratuto.
NADA ENTRE LOS DOS presents a captivating story that explores modern relationships through a fresh and sensitive lens. With a script written by Taratuto and Matías Scartascini, the movie combines wit and emotion as it reflects on the challenges and opportunities that come with a desire to break with the direction of one’s life.
“I was interested in questioning the authenticity of certain bonds and depicting the freedom of being able to connect with someone untethered by mandates or structures, in contrast with the rigidity that often sets in for an established couple. Sometimes those random sparks hold more truth than some of the more formal life choices. And sometimes those sparks allow us to re-signify the present and attempt a rescue move on it”, says writer-director Juan Taratuto about the story.
The film follows Guillermo (Gael García Bernal) and Mechi (Natalia Oreiro) two executives who work for different divisions of the same company who unexpectedly connect during a corporate offsite
meeting. Even though they are both married and have structured family lives, the sudden spark makes them face their own desires and changes them in deeper ways than they thought possible.
NADA ENTRE LOS DOS is a Cimarrón (The Mediapro Studio) and Concreto Films production, in coproduction with Particular Crowd, for Warner Bros. Discovery Latin America. It will be released theatrically in Latin America this year and will later be available exclusively on HBO Max in Latin America.
Mexican actor, director, and producer Gael García Bernal gained international recognition through the films Amores perros, Y tu mamá también, and Diarios de motocicleta [The Motorcycle Diaries], among others. In addition to acting in acclaimed films and series, he directs and produces feature films and documentaries. Along with Diego Luna, he co-founded Ambulante, a non-profit documentary film festival, and La Corriente del Golfo, a production company focused on diverse media projects.
Natalia Oreiro has won two Platino awards: one for best performance in a miniseries or series for Santa Evita and one for best actress for Gilda: No me arrepiento de este amor. She has also earned a Produ award for best lead performance for Iosi, el espía arrepentido, among other awards.
Juan Taratuto has directed eight films and has garnered great box office success; several of his movies have had international remakes. He has been the recipient of Sur and Cóndor awards in his native Argentina and has gained recognition by numerous film festivals, including Venice, Valladolid, Havana, Flanders and Abu Dhabi.
